I learned from the book, The One-Minute Cure, by Madison Cavanaugh, that seeds soaked in one ounce of hydrogen peroxide mixed with two cups of water, grow more quickly and become larger. And it’s just the regular 3% hydrogen peroxide topical solution that you buy at the grocery or drug store.
I wanted to try this theory with seed packets at the dollar stores. You can get them for really cheap… four packets for $1. I’ve bought cheap seeds before only to be disappointed that they never grew. So I wondered if soaking them in the recommended hydrogen peroxide mixture would work with them.
I did the experiment with Four O’Clock seeds. There were 12 seeds in one packet, so I soaked all 12 seeds in the hydrogen peroxide / water mixture for several hours. I then planted them every 12 inches in a row in a flower garden this spring. My flower garden already had perennial seeds of Marigolds, Hollyhocks, and Four O’Clocks in the soil from last year.
Check out the picture below. There is a definite difference in the Four O’Clock seeds that were soaked in hydrogen peroxide and water. They are the large plants in this picture. The other plants were not from soaked seeds. The soaked seed plants came up quicker and have grown larger than the rest. It really works! You’ve got to try it!
