Add a decorative touch to your kitchen by making a one-of-a-kind valance. Hanging folded dish towels over a window rod gives the appearance of crisp pleats. You can create whatever atmosphere you wish: Urban, Modern, Shabby, Chic, Farmhouse, or French Country. Terry cloth as well as 100% cotton fabric will work. Kitchen towels come in so many different designs and prints. Splashes of colorful fruits, American flags, Easter bunnies, or designer damask, you choose.
Choose Your Price
The style of the window rod, the width of your window, and the cost of the towels will determine how pricey or cheap your project is. The width of my window requires seven towels. The dollar stores offer many seasonal towels that are stylish and cute at cheap prices. And, you can get a great deal when seasonal towels go on clearance after the holidays are over.
Choose one pattern or team it with other color coordinated patterns. Throw in a monogrammed hand towel with the letter of your last name. In the top photo I tried to create visual appeal by alternating damask, stripes, plaids, and Moroccan all in the same color. Below, I used the Daisy Chain kitchen towels from The Pioneer Woman Collection at Walmart for a country look. I turned up a bottom corner of the patterned towels and sewed on a large button just for fun.
Add Seasonal Appeal
Delight friends and family by changing out your dish towels each holiday and season. Kohls is my favorite store for delightful holiday designs. And, if you’re from Texas, they’ve got some adorable towels right now with the Texas theme. The eye-catching look will create a fun and friendly atmosphere.
